OP Y.
Enclosure 2.
Hon. Colonial Secretary,
C O

RECR Rear 28 MAY 10
The suggestion is twofold:-
(a). Recalling an officer on leave.
(b). Allocating an officer in the Colony to act.
With regard to (a) the Officers on leave
are Messrs. Boulton, Hollingsworth and Perkins.
Mr. Boulton is an invalid and I can procure
a certificate from Dr. Marriott, who attended him, that he is
quite unfit for work. Dr. Marriott took so serious a view of his
case that he called on me personally to tell me how necessary
it was that Mr. Boult should be got away home as early as
possible.
Mr. Hollingsworth. Owing to the defecta
mentioned in my minute of the 19th, instant - his unfortunate
manner and lack of tact - I feel that I could not recormend him
for the post, even if he were at present in the Colony.
M. Perkins. I have explained the difficult
I feel with regard to recommending this officer. He is very
junior in service to the other Executive Engineers who are over
him with the exception of Mr. Jackman,
With regard to (b), the Executive Engineers
present are Messrs. Tooker, Gale, Fisher, Jackman and Jaffe.
Mr. Tooker. I have already stated my
reasons for not recommending him.

Medical Certificate.
Mr. Gale. Goes on leave tomorrow under
Mr. Fisher, Mr. Jackman, and Mr. Jaffe.
Apart from all other considerations as to their fitness or
otherwise, these officers are fully occupied now and the appoint
-ment of any of them to the acting appointment would only dis-
-locate other work,
